After unsuccessfully trying to take me out on our last ride Chris almost did it Friday. 2 weeks ago I was leading the way down a very high speed section of trail looking for a hard turn we had to make, as I slow way down and start to make the turn I hear Chris screaming and I see him out of the corner of my eye skidding by me missing me by millimeters on his locked up front wheel with his back tire 3' off the ground. This near miss scared the living sh1t out of both of us, but Chris wasn`t satisfied with that failed attempt on my life. So for some reason I decide to go riding with him again Friday, all was well until about 25 miles into the ride. For some stupid reason I was riding in front of him again down a road section of the NETRA Pachaug loop. We were cruising along at about 40mph on a dry, smooth paved road, as I slow down and make a turn onto another paved road I`m adjusting my watchdog`s odometer to match a reset on the route sheet. I make it half way around the corner when all of a sudden I`m airborne, off the bike and over the bars, all I see is street, sky, street, sky, street and KABLAM!! I slam into the road on my left side and slide to a stop. I look back to see what the hell just happened and I see Chris laying under his bike, between the two bodies and two bikes we are having quite the yard-sale and blocking the whole road. Turns out Chris decided to lay his bike over and take the corner at about 20mph when his front end washed out and he used me and my bike to stop himself from sliding off the road into the woods, crashing into the back of my bike catapulting me over the bars. I get up with half the wind knocked out of me, to make sure Chris is still alive, he is and we pick up our bikes to make the whole thing look a little less like a deadly accident scene and survey the damage. Luckily none of the people in the many houses in the area saw anything and called 911. My bike, no damage that I could see anywhere. Chris`s bike, broken fender, headlight, hand guard, rear blinker and bunch of rubber from my rear tire on his shroud. His body, no damage that he could see or feel. My body let`s see, a little road rash on my side, a sore hip, very sore ribs, shoulder, arm and a Humongous lump on my swollen elbow and forearm, thank god for good elbow guards or it would have been a lot worse. Well he almost succeeded with that attempt. After Chris wire-tied his bike back together and I could move my left side a little we continued on and finished the rest of the 35 miles of the loop. I maintained a much longer lead on him for the rest of the ride and started signaling when I was turning and stopping very early. I wonder what Chris has in mind for next weeks ride?
