While it seems like they like it, this is more of a technical description vs a riding description..I'm wondering how much maintenance the new linkage will be? That used to be a big selling point for Beta, linkless rear suspension, less to go wrong..I like the fact that they have managed to lighten it up, only hope it stays durable..

I had the pleasure of a full days test on the new 290 Evo this weekend... and had my 2008 Rev3 with me as well as a comparison.
It is very different if you have been a Beta rider for a while... different feel, sound and engine characteristics..

http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/html_files/betaevo.html will tell you more, and saves me writting it all down again :)

Thanks for sharing your test ride with us, it was a great read. Here in Vermont, we most likely won't get to try any bikes until spring. Its encouraging to hear the new engine is very tractable, which opens up its use for the clubman, as well as the experts. I'm anxious to hear how the 125,200 & 250's are as well. I'm currently riding a 2005 200, which I have enjoyed alot.

Ride on,
Tom

I really enjoyed reading about the test ride . I was also thinking this bike would be a good candidate for a carbon fiber pipe guard . Hint for Eline ,or any other carbon fiber manufacturer.

Thanks for that...

The motor is very good all the way through... no powerband as such. Earlier 270's could be a bit of a handful for the inexperienced rider but the new 290 doesn't have that problem. Over here they come fitted with a removable flywheel weight to make them even more 4 stroke like if you wished... and the 250 gets them as well. I prefer a quick powerful engine, even though i am not a great rider, but would happily agree that the new bike would improve my trial comp scores during the winter months in the mud.
