I don't know the details. Couldn't bring myself to ask. I do know it was a pile of logs in George's yard and that he'd probably been over it a hundred times. He was just goofing around on fourth of July. Reminds me of a couple of years ago at a trials site in a sand pit in RI. After the event some of the young-uns were playing riding up and down some big dirt piles. No big deal usually but I noticed several of them playing on one pile that had been excavated on one side. Obviously an unstable slope. I chased most of them off it but a couple of kids refused to get off the pile. I then went to the parents and explained that their kids were on an unstable slope and that if it collapsed the odds were very high we wouldn't find them until well after they had suffocated. The parents immediately went over to clear junior off the dirt pile and give them a ration for not listening when told what not to play on. All but one parent who looked at the pile and said, "Ah he's fine." and went back to drinking his beer. I had to get the trialsmaster to threaten ejecting them from the property with a lifelong ban to get them to tell junior to get off the pile. We've snce lost access to that trials site. Gee I wonder why. It's way too easy to get complacent.
