Just got back...A few comments about the event. Saturday, and the days preceding, were dry making for ample traction. This led to low scores for the Pro class. Fuji dropped 1 point on his first loop. He was on fire Saturday. All sections had one or more "beyond human" obtacles but on average they were not very technical. However, with the rain on Sunday it didn't need to be technical to take tons of points. There was very little traction--Typical TTC grease. Many of the sections were either cleans or 5s. Almost everyone punched a 5 on section 9. All the top Pros showed up together, spent all of 20 seconds looking and punched a 5. It was really nasty. Raga looked pretty bad Saturday and Sunday--His timing was off, lack of drive, etc. Bou was consistent, very precise, extra slow in the slow spots and extra throttle in the "gas it" spots. Fuji looked really good too with a 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. Douggie is riding "mid pack" these days. Obvious mistakes and not-so-pretty cashes are getting more common for him. He is still too good to not compete at the Pro level. Douggie's Beta had a special shock with an external resovoir, different triple trees, 4T clutch and modified cases to fit it, after market titanium exhaust, aftermarket pegs, and it was bored out to a 290. Otherwise it looked stock. The Montesas didn't have much different than what I have seen in the past world rounds...but nothing like we can buy. I didn't see any 2-stroke Scorpas in the Junior or Pro classes but there were several 4 strokes. Cabestany's 4 stroke had huge power. It really screamed and seemed more nimble than the 4 strokes the lower classman were riding. Raga's bike didn't look much different besides the special metal in the frame. As usual, a great time. I am already planning a trip in to next years event in Colorado if it is approved. Tim
