Thanks for the info, I booked my hotel rooms for the Thrill & Chill weekend.  Three of us coming from NY and looking forward to our first dirt riding in RI.

Question ... my 17 year old son has his motorcycle permit.  Is it OK he rides this event with only his permit?  I don't know the RI laws or if your club would have any issues with this.

I am not a member of the Rhody Rovers, but it has always been my understanding that if your states laws meet or exceed the state you are going to ride in, it will be ok. I've heard the opposite though...

My son has his Rhode Island motorcycle permit and it states that he has to be supervised by a licenced motorcyclist.  So if your with him on the ride there should not be a problem.  He must wear a helmet, all riders under 21 must wear a helmet in Rhode Island.  I don't think the last part applys but that is what it says on his permit.

Thanks for the info and yes, the three of us will ride together the entire time.

Ross,

What Bob said. Whether or not RI requires a helmet, Rhody Rovers does. Along with all the other saftey gear. Its a no brainer and I know you don't need to be told, more for anyone reading this.

You guys are planning on the Turkey Run loop, no?

In my family, helmets and goggles are required when on a bike, ATV or snowmobile.  My son has been riding a dirt bike since he was six and has full gear.

It's a 3+ hour drive so we are coming in Friday evening.  Planning on doing both the Dual Sport and Turkey Run loops on Saturday.  And the Turkey Run on Sunday.

Applications are ready to be sent in ... just need to get my son and brother in law their NETRA cards.

oh thank god the flyer is up! Now all we have to do is mileage 170 miles, advertise out of town, write letters and deliver to every town police dept. and state dept., finish the riders info sheet, get a dumpster and porta johns, organize signup, arrow 260 miles, contact Congdon, reconfirm with Romeo, reconfirm with Scott Dawley, prep trails, put together a map for the Water Board, send flyers to ECEA, bike shops, etc., .............. but an image of the flyer is here. I'm so relieved.

You're welcome.  Rich has earned the stress by being trailboss.
