SQUERACING -> Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/3/2008 10:53:33 AM)

The Rocky Weekend quickly approaches with a considerable amount of preparatory work expected. A new section on the west side of the field/144' bridge is being added which will need to be cut. Clean-up to remove face slappers, blow downs and reroutes to ease some of the original course, also need to be addressed. At last evening's MVTR meeting a work schedule was drafted, of which our scribe will add to this post when he recognizes I didn't write down the times and dates.
July 26 & 27, the days of our event will require a full fledged mini-army, please contact one of the guys at their e-mail or pm me from here, what ever, but come up and while you're making the event a success, enjoy the mountain and excitement.
We intend on following the NETRA rule book with respect to workers and work credits, not quoted but "If your club holds an event, you will work that event to fulfill your Club Work rule for championship points". In other words if a rider calls and asks to work the Rocky and his club has their own event we must tactfully decline his or her offer. "My bike's broke"; "I'm scared of the Rocky so I'd like to work it"; "My club's event is so sweet I'd like to ride it and work yours"; NOPE! If his or her club has no event and that person wishes to fulfill his work requirement we will be more then glad to oblige.  But following these rules will put more pressure on MVTR to man all posts and fulfill all organizational requirements necessary for a quality event. Consequently we need your support, your spouses support, your kids support.

I'm in for both days to help out where needed.  Kerry and Olivia will likley help on Sunday...sign up perhaps?  I mentioned to Shawn I was skipping the Chaplin HS and can help Saturday or Sunday the week before the event.

COJER -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/3/2008 4:22:20 PM)

Just a small correction.... Andy's e-mail is ancoplumb@comcast.net.  Thanks -  Tom, you know that all the Anthony's will be there from Friday on...... We will do whatever we can.

Superhawk -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/7/2008 12:34:07 PM)

I think I will work for MVTR Saturday and help my other club out Sunday. Tuesday looks wicked hot [8D].

Johnny1Eye -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/7/2008 8:25:16 PM)

How about making it Thurs the 17th, instead of weds-16th? [:@]

SQUERACING -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/8/2008 4:19:55 PM)

Shawn and Jon where headed up on Thursdays also. The intent to scout and prepare for the Saturday Grand Work Partys. Contact him direct and see what's up.
A contingent where there today clearing the new "west" connector. How do spell NH Heat?

SQUERACING -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/9/2008 12:05:51 PM)

4-6 Boys braved the 90+ temps yesterday, clearing a 20 year old cart road and some pine sections. No word on milage but the rock count is down in that area. Could have used more pink "scouting" ribbon to follow. Cell phone for directional advice - 1 bar = NO ADVICE.

Cody is NOT ALOWED TO USE ANYTHING SHARPER THEN PRUNING SHEERS by maternal dictate!

Trail Bosses will go back up tomorrow for a bit of "recon" before the Saturday WORK PARTY.

Saturday:
Meet at 0800 at the Alton Circle McDonalds
BRING - BODY, ENERGY FOR TRAIL WORK, BIKES FOR A POSIBLE AFTERNOON BURN-IN RUN.

Superhawk -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/9/2008 12:36:51 PM)

God Bless you guys, it was brutal yesterday!

COJER -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/9/2008 1:37:10 PM)

Cody came home last night around 7:00 pm.  He had left the house around 6:30 am.  He said he never drank more water in a day.  He couldn't wait to jump in the shower (WOW!, that's an achievement in itself...).  He is very excited about the trail.  It is going to be AWESOME!  All the Anthony's plan on coming up on Wednesday for the work party.  See you then (except for the Levesque's... we will see you in Connecticut this weekend for the Pee Wee and Harescramble)

SQUERACING -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/10/2008 8:11:15 PM)

Shawn and Jon were riding Rocky today and have mentally drafted several routes. Total mileage will drive what course the scramble course will take and as for the Jr enduro stuff, it would make an excellent novice enduro course. The kids will See plenty of Rocky Mountain. Jon and Andy will put together speed averages to be sure some riders are early on the first lap so it isn't a run and gun HS/enduro. The scramble route the guys have been cutting is without rock, maybe one or two, the rest of Rocky has enough to make up for it. But the intent is to enhance the new trail from last year with rider friendly single track for this year.
If your reading this, pass the word and bring your Friends to "RUMBLE ON THE ROCK" or for the MVTR folks, work on the Rock. Check to the work schedule, I think this Saturday is a work and a run-in-ride.
It's a further drive but if you were going to Clough Saturday shoot out to the Rocky for some new scenery.

SQUERACING -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/10/2008 8:23:36 PM)

(this is the third time I've tried to get this posted and I keep dumping it for one reason or another)

So anyway, Shawn and Jon rode the newly cut stuff today as well as a lot of the old trails and have mentally drafted a scramble course, the final rendition will be dependent on targeted mileage; and an enduro course reminiscent of the old 70s and 80s Jr enduro courses. The idea will be to establish checks and speed mileages so the faster riders going into the first checks will be early, increased speed averages for later checks will separate the 0 cards from penalty point cards.
The intent of this year's scramble course is to enhance the niiicccee new stuff from last year with more pine needles, soft moss, lazy sections. Just a nice relaxed ride. OK, I'm out of here, this is getting sickly!
MVTR members:
If you were going to Hop-Ev this week drive the extra miles, help a bit and ride some new stuff, Clough will be there later. Plus we need people to know the area.

Superhawk -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/11/2008 9:24:22 PM)

See you tomorrow at McDonalds for breakfast with my loppers, saw and KDX.[:)]

The newly cut trail is awesome! Unfortunately, I can't make the next work party. It is a Loudon roadracing weekend, and I haven't given up on that passtime just yet.

Superhawk -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/14/2008 11:34:00 AM)

Ditto on the new trail and the entire course[:)]. It is a sweet blend of new wide stuff and some more technical boney stuff. It was nice to meet a few guys I haven't ridden with or worked with yet. Getting to chase Sean for a lap was exciting. It is funny how riding at 100% for 8 miles beats you up as much as riding 85% for 80 miles.

I will ge the track off my GPS today and mail it over. I left my telescoping loppers and my little one that the bolt fell out of in the back of the 1500HD Crew Cab. I definately want to fix the little ones, they are my favorite ones to take sledding.

My thoughts exactly!

SQUERACING -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/15/2008 12:12:57 PM)

Thanks for the work and voice of confidence on the new course.
Rick Claxton was up Sunday, haven't heard how he made out or what he thinks?
Just a reminder, Shawn will have a crew there tomorrow Wed. July 16.
The Anthony's will be there working on the Pee Wee event.
We appolagize to the folks who showed up at the Rocky start while we were out on the course. We were having so much fun with brush, slash and flys we forgot to come get you.
The rasberrys and blueberries are ripe for picken. Bears?
Saturaday, July 19th we'll be hanging arrows. GPSing the Scramble course. Come on up and be the first to run-in the full cousre: HS & Jr.

Fire Escape -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/15/2008 10:33:37 PM)

Brush, slash and flies, sounds great! I had hoped to get there tomorrow (Wednesday) but got a "better offer", looks like I will be soaking up sunshine from the seat of a 50+ (maybe older than me?) year old tractor. Weather hasn't been great for making hay so I need to help out while it lasts.

Superhawk -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/17/2008 6:47:46 PM)

I got out in the hay field a few times this week too, stacking bales on a moving trailer is great balance training!

I have to meet a guy at a bank in Manch to sell my truck Saturday so I will be lucky to got over to he scramble track by lunch if I make it at all.

ktm250rider -> RE: Rocky Mountain Weekend (7/20/2008 8:50:31 PM)
