I started a new thread about this enduro, because Billy's right, we need to focus on why we named this in Honor of Dan. Dan was a great guy who got taken from us way too early. It's been a year and he's been greatly missed by many.

Billy's donating $250
I don't have that kind of money but I'll add another $20. The goal set by Billy is $1000 for the kids of Dan who's in? and we will be taking donations on the Day of the event and if Hollywoodie and beat Pat on his home turf I'll double it to $40. I monitor this forum so for respect for Dan on good things about this event will be allowed.
Below is Billy's post (With a little editing)

The GYPSY MOTH ENDURO is a great event and one that I will be very sad to miss! My good friend PT will be racing trying to keep another overall away from Hollywood.  Riding with and against PT and Brooks at the King Philip was so much fun and I can only imagine that the Gypsy Moth would have been the same! You can bet that if either one of those two win the overall that the trophy will be going home to Dan's son.

Now I'm also sure that since this event is in "HONOR" of someone, that maybe we should all be thinking as well as talking about that and not littering this thread with garbage. How about we all start pledging a few dollars towards the kids college fund! Just take a second to think about if it was you that an event was honoring and why we are honoring this guy. Sadly Dan was taken from this world way to early and he left behind a wonerful family that we all have a chance to be part of by helping out in whatever way we can afford.  Maybe together we could all make a difference again which in return may make the 1 year mark a little easier for Dan's family. Please join me in making a contribution pledge on this post to Dan Salomone's kids!

Thanks to everyone who has jumped on board! If you didn't read my first post in the other thread here is part two. I will be donating one of my limited edition camoflage ISDE fundraising tee shirts and one of my TEAM USA JERSEYS issued to the 2009 club team riders. This would be a great collectors item even with some unknown guy named B Burns' name on it. I was hoping that the club could raffle off the shirt the day of the event as an extra way of raising funds for the kids! So please ask about it the day of the event and buy a ticket or two! Also please help spread the word!

Also, as a suggestion...Give Dan S. minute #1 solo with a moment of silence and/or a quick prayer. Everyone else starts after. Make AAs start on 6 if you have to. I think it would be a nice touch. You know he'll be there anyway. Might as well give him a good minute!!!

Ok people, I know that we have alot more T/R riders and enduro guys that can post a pledge. Please consider the cause that we are all donating for. A GIANT "THANK YOU" GOES OUT TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE STEPPED UP AND DONATED OR PLEDGED!! PLEASE HELP ME SPREAD THE WORD TO AS MANY PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY AS YOU CAN. Maybe bring it up at a club meeting and pass the hat and make one donation from your club. $1 dollar from 25 people equals $25 and $25 from 5 or 10 clubs could put us over the top. ( it all adds up) As soon as my Team USA Jersey gets back I will post a picture of it for all to see. The club will be raffling it off the day of the event. If Danny J says that it is ok maybe we could sell tickets ahead of time? Again it is all for a great cause. This will be the one year anniversery for the family and I'm sure that the thought alone will go a long ways towards easing their pain. Everyone has told me that it gets tougher with time and I can't and in fact hate to try to imagine what it would be like for my 10 year daughter to grow up without me.

Thanks to everyone who has donated money or time to help the Salomone family. October 24th will be the one year anniversary of Dan's passing and it has been a tough year, but, it has been a lot easier due to the support of his family and friends. Dan's wife has been blown away by the generousity and support they have recieved from the motorcycle community and it really reflects the sense of family that we have for fellow motorcyclists. I was very happy to see the Gypsy Moth was re-named in honor of Dan as he was a past trail boss of this event and had so much to do with the attempts to open land in CT and to help keep the enduro events running.
Billy Burns, you are a stand up guy.

Pat I've already collected over $500 in checks. Jay has sent out flyers to shops in hopes of donations to add to the raffle. So far I've heard C Cycle has helped out with things for the raffle as well has plans to make a monatary donation. At the SRCR meeting I plan on asking the club to donate any money from the enduro after expenses. The more riders we bring in the better the chances are of actually making a profit, the more goes to the donation. Our goals a $1000 maybe the enduro community can make it $2500

Dan, I know haven't been around in a while, but you can count on me to help at the race.I'll give a donation the day of the race. I rode with Dan when he first started riding out of Pete Sullivans place centurys ago.
