mry crnkstr -> training ground in SE CT (11/28/2009 10:29:59 PM)

I've marked out a long section covering alittle over an acre with gates and arrows.  Its kind of like the old school wide world of sports length but with natural obstacles and at a solid Intermediate level.  I have also beat in a 3 mile loop 8 regular or a bit longer sections at a stiff Novice A line level.  Its a good area and there are easy outs to all the obstacles as well as some stuff way out of my league.

Its in Stonington CT, I've Been riding neta for the past two years on a sherco, there is an open invitation to ride here, Please speak up if you are interested in taking a rip!

mry crnkstr -> RE: training ground in SE CT (11/29/2009 8:43:10 PM)

Ya I try to ride year round as long as its not too cold or icy.  Weekends are usually good but my schedule is such that can usually sneak out midweek too with a little notice.  Three of us rode the long section today and its a blast if I do say so myself!!

what temps do you consider too cold??

mry crnkstr -> RE: training ground in SE CT (11/29/2009 8:54:50 PM)

I work outside year round and believe me I don't mind the cold, but I prefer it to be at least in the mid 40's to ride trials.

Huh, 190 reads with limited response.  Would this be more interesting, the long section or no loop trial, its one point for a dab and two points for missing a gate and your time, best try of the day counts.  We could handicap it where say a B guy could skip a few gates, A's ride the section as is, and there are technical treats for the E class.  Post the scores on a thread and have a little off season action.  Its around 50 gates and blown off.  ctffp@sbcglobal.net to schedule a try.

Sounds like fun to me but too much of a commute this time of year.

Expert007 -> RE: training ground in SE CT (2/24/2010 1:50:44 PM)

Hey Chris, don't get discouraged, it's a great offer and "if you make it, they will come". This time of year it's difficult to get people out of their nice warm homes and drive an hour or two to freeze their knuckles off and then drive back. We've been riding almost every weekend here in Maine, and rarely get more than 5 guys to show up. Some are waiting on new bikes and some for warmer weather. I'm really committed, or should be 'committed', to riding, and I'll even shovel snow off one section and ride it all day if I have to, but then, I am the most eccentric in the bunch, and that's being nice. I'd love to come down, and might yet, but it's a long drive from Maine, especially when there's 2 riding areas within an hour's drive from here. But if we get snow this week, I make come down soon....plus, I'm on unemployment now, as many others, and can't afford the petrol. Keep up the good work! It is it's own reward!!
Peace out,
Jareth
