Fatboy -> New B.O.D. members? (2/1/2010 5:24:27 PM)

Seeing the meeting was adjourned before votes for the new slate of directors were tallied, who won?

Bigred460 -> RE: New B.O.D. members? (2/1/2010 5:34:46 PM)

I believe the General is first alternate.

which means what? there's nothing in the bylaws about an alternate.

EGG -> RE: New B.O.D. members? (2/1/2010 8:13:36 PM)

Rich -

I didn't find anything in the bylaws about alternate BODs either, but Army of 1 (Steve Gardner) is the first alternate, and there was a second alternate elected also.   An alternate becomes activated if a current BOD cannot fulfill their term.

Merrily we roll along, roll along, roll along!
Merrily we roll along, making up the rules as we go.

Kasa-waki Racer -> RE: New B.O.D. members? (2/2/2010 12:42:59 PM)

Rediculous......[sm=jack.gif]

I didn't know it was an ALTERNATE election. I'll bite my tongue and await a further review before I vent.  [:@]

No new rules here. I have been going to the annual meeting and comp. comm. meetings since 2003. Both the BOD and Comp. Comm elect positions and two alternates. Last year I was elected first alternate and took over a term of the first BOD member that stepped down. Let's not create or look for problems that don't exist.

No, I won't, but someone created a position that doesn't exist or it would/should be spelled out in the bylaws. I think its time for a bylaws revision committee so that what happened this past year (and with these alternate positions) doesn't continue to plague Netra's operations. Every five years my church overhauls its bylaws because, as Bob Dylan sang, "times, they are a changin'." It certainly would shut me up![;)]

Well there is NO dispute that YOU have a good handle on the "By Laws". Like I agreed on this weekend with you...most of the BOD does not even read the rules or the by laws.
I am open minded and presented one of BTR's opinions on the Laws. Please continue to inform everyone of the membership on the Rules; Thanks, Paul

observer -> RE: New B.O.D. members? (2/2/2010 5:44:49 PM)

The "first alternate" is not a position.  These folks don't get invited to the Board meetings.  It is simply the person "next in line" according to the number of votes they received at the Annual meeting.  The by-laws were totally updated 2 years ago, and voted on by the membership.  There are certain things covered by by-laws, certain things covered by articles of incorporation, and certain things that are simply matters of procedure.  The Board is always looking for input.  If you think there is something that needs clarification, bring it up.

All NETRA members are "invited" to BOD meetings. Just can't vote.

If I continued the discourse, I was going to ask if the BOD had written policies in place.
I wasn't a member 2 years ago. Just joined again back in Oct. 2009. I used to be a member back in the 80s. Not until recently did Netra have anything for me. I am a recreational rider only.
Now that Netra is sanctioning Dualsport/Adventure rides, I have more of an interest.
If I'm not mistaken, I thought anyone could attend a BOD meeting unless they go into executive session.
Anyway, all organizations need a watchdog. Keeps everything on the up and up. Makes people accountable for their actions.

EGG -> Steve Gardner - new BOD member (2/4/2010 10:23:47 AM)

Steve Gardner (Army of 1) has just been named to the NETRA Board of Directors.  He was the first alternate after Saturday's NETRA meeting, and was notified today of his status change from alternate to BOD.

Steve is the guy that had the orange T-shirt and camo shorts at the NETRA meeting - you may remember him as the Iraqi War vet guy.

Pic is attached of Steve in Iraq in 2003.

Ernie

BTW - Steve is my younger brother, but he has white hair and I don't.   ;<D

No, the mule is for Sister Sarah.

Btw, that's a donkey, not a mule.
