Status: offline 		Remember that we can amend this bylaw at the meeting. I would like to eliminate the part about voting rights altogether. This bylaw is directed at the newly active enduro riders as a way to shut them up and effectively make them non-members. If certain members of the club want a two tier membership system why don’t we have a special class of membership for the people that ride only the short course races charging a reduced membership fee? That could cover the insurance issue and not grant this group voting rights, of course they are almost all harescramble riders and their vote might be needed against the enduro riders. Go head have this vote on the bylaw and start to destroy a great club that has been around for thirty five plus years.

It's sad that this debate gets constantly categorized into enduro vs harescramblers, because it's really not.  It's more about active vs inactive members. 
There are plenty of riders on both sides (even some that don't race at all) that are not very active. 

Let me ask a question, would some of the less active riders here feel better about the bylaw if the part about getting the netra work credit was taken out and we kept the work requirements the same as it has been in the past?

Dave I have paid my dues for thirty five years and worked untold events for the club and to faced with the threat of losing my right to vote is not right.

Status: offline 		I havent been around for awhile and I am shocked about this proposal. Most that know me understand I am not a big fan of Enduro's. That being said this proposal is insanity. It is in fact a way to divide the club even further than it is already divided. If the Enduro guys want an Enduro let them have it. They can work it and share the trails we all enjoy in Freetown. These trails are a privilege for us to use and dividing how we use them is simply a stupid idea.

There is no doubt that the Harescrambler vs Enduro game is fun, but meant to be just that. Lets not forget why we are all here on this site and at events. We love Dirtbikes and enjoy the company that this sport brings. Just for the record this proposal would have no effect on me or my kids as there are many other clubs that would allow us a work credit. However this would divide the club we feel is our local club and where our heart truly lies.

End this insanity and deny this proposal. We may be divided for fun but without each other we are divided for real.

If you believe that it's enduro riders vs harescramble riders, then you are truly out of touch.
There are racers in BOTH disciplines that I only see maybe two or three times a year working club events, and that's usually the weekend before and the weekend of a NETRA event they are getting work credits for.

Joe, the part about letting the enduro riders "just have an enduro" that doesn't work is, most of the time it's the active members who put in many hours of clearing trails and setting up that allows some of the inactive members to show up and work a day or two to get their credit. 
You've been a very active member in the past, and you know exactly how much work goes into putting on a successful event. There were plenty of times where you had your whole family out there clearing trails all day on saturday, and then see a couple guys show up on sunday and work 4 hours and expect to get the same credit as you.  This should not be allowed to happen as it only enables the inactive members to remain so.

It is up to the trailboss to find and nail down his help for the event. That is why your suposed to work your own clubs event (NETRA)
The Trailboss decides who gets work credit.
I dont know about you but I didn't see either of the two AA Enduro riders that got their work credit from PSTR last year clearing trail or pulling arrows.
(nothing personal guy's, just making a point.)

John, you're running out of rider groups to pin against the poor enduro riders.  It's not about the short course riders vs the enduro riders.
While i agree that the majority of short course riders just show up to race and then go home without ever helping the club, i will guarantee that that same percentage also doesn't care about voting or getting a NETRA work credit.  They just want to show up and race and have a great time with their friends.

Maybe this scare is what the "enduro" (i really mean ALL of the less active members) riders need to start helping out just a little bit more.  I'm not saying go to every event and get over 150 activity points.

If everyone puts in a little, it makes the job easier then letting a small group do the majority of the work.

This isn't just a problem with PSTR, which is sad since it happens to many other clubs.  It sucks to be that last person out there pulling arrows (or bikes) as it's getting dark out and when you get back to the parking lot, it's empty. In this instance, i wish it were easier for a trailboss to just deny someone a work credit, but you know as well as i do how much bitching and protesting would happen if you denied a AA a work credit due to lack of work. (there are plenty of AA riders out there who put in more then 100% at events too)

Status: online 		The point that is going in one ear out out the other with you guys is, who's to stop some ECO-group from coming to a meeting signing up 100 members and voting that PSTR can no longer hold races and event?

there is nothing in the by-laws that can prevent this from happening.  so if you have a better idea then the current bylaw change proposal, then by all means propse something better.  you guys are bent on creating as much drama as you can to look like victims, when its not even about you directly.
I'd better see some other by law changes in the newsletter or at the next meeting, or i'll be severely disappointed in all of you loud mouths on here.

Status: offline 		  Bull @#$%! There is a provision to remove members that are detrimental to the club and like I already posted you can restrict who becomes a member WITHOUT RESTRICTING THE CURRENT MEMBERS. Call them prospects until they jump through whatever hoop you want to make up.

Oh yeah. Sorry , I forget. That doesn't give you the control your looking for.
