It may seem like posting your email address on the forums for others to see is a good idea, however you should know all the facts before you do.
NEDB uses software which is "Search Engine Friendly". Search engines go out and browse web sites looking for content that can be indexed. These indexes are what allow you to type in a few words in the search box on a site like Google and you get hundreds (sometimes thousands) of relevant results. This behavior, however, can be a double-edged sword. Any text that the search engine "crawler" (aka Bot) can access gets indexed. Therefore, if you post your e-mail address (or any other personal information for that matter) on any open forum (on just about any site, not just NEDB) it will end up getting indexed. When this happens, there are other "Crawlers" or "Bots" that simply run through searches looking for email addresses, personal information or anything else that can be used to contact you.
Keep in mind that certain pages are SAFE to send this kind of personal information. For example, if you send personal information via a PM, this is safe, because only the sender and the recipient can access the message content.
Keep this basic principle in mind when using forums of any kind.
